KLINGENTHAL, FRANCE | JUNE 20 - 26 2022

32 leaders, scholars, and activists from 18 communities from all over the world gathered in the scenic mountains outside of Strasbourg, France to delve into the issues facing our Jewish communities today. The theme of the 32nd International NGF, Community, Continuity & Conscience, offered a range of topics and deep learning provided by 10 outstanding faculty members. Each session was designed to open, provoke, and inspire meaningful conversations, as well as foster lifelong connections. As Dammara Markowitz, one of our participants from Israel put it: “It was incredible to hear about the challenges and successes of other communities and imagine a path forward together.”

The diversity of Fellows allowed for a unique Shabbat experience, which highlighted the inspiring connections that developed throughout the week. From joint prayers for peace in Hebrew, Ukrainian, and Russian, to liturgy sung in tunes from across the world, and powerful, inclusive,  ritual experiences, Shabbat created by and for the cohort was a deep demonstration of the core values of the program: to enhance and strengthen expressions global Jewish peoplehood.
